General Terms and Conditions
Terms of Participation and Liability Waiver for Norway Trail Series (NTS)
By registering for one or more races in the Norway Trail Series, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted the following terms of participation.
Registration and Payment: Your registration is binding and implies an immediate payment obligation. The entry fee and optional extras are non-refundable in the event of illness, injury, personal circumstances, or failure to participate. Entries are valid for this year's edition only and cannot be deferred. Transferring your entry to another person is permitted after registration has closed, subject to an administration fee. If you don't already have one, we recommend purchasing personal cancellation insurance.
Minors (Participants Under 18): Participants under 18 years of age must have the explicit consent of a parent or legal guardian to participate. By registering a minor, the parent or legal guardian accepts these General Terms and Conditions and the Liability Waiver on behalf of the minor. For younger participants (such as on shorter distances), parents or legal guardians are responsible for evaluating the minor's fitness and ensuring proper supervision during the event.
Acceptance of Risk: Participation in the NTS is voluntary and entirely at your own risk. You acknowledge the inherent risks associated with mountain running in challenging terrain, including but not limited to sprains, fractures, hypothermia, dehydration, and in extreme cases, severe injury or death. Weather conditions can change rapidly, and access for rescue personnel may be difficult and time-consuming.
Health and Medical Information: You are personally responsible for ensuring you are physically and medically fit to complete the distance for which you are registered. Participation is strongly discouraged if you have heart, lung, back, or neck problems. If you use essential medications, you must carry them with you. We recommend writing medical details and next-of-kin (ICE) contact info on the back of your race bib.
Pregnancy: Pregnant participants, particularly those in their second or third trimester, are strongly advised to consult a medical professional prior to registration. Due to the challenging terrain and remote locations, participation is entirely at your own risk.
General Race Rules
Support: All races operate on a principle of semi-self-sufficiency. Receiving external help (drink, food, pacing) outside of official aid stations is strictly forbidden.
Duty to Assist: For safety reasons, you are obligated to stop and help fellow runners in need. Time lost assisting others can be compensated by the race direction.
Littering: Throwing garbage on the route is strictly forbidden and will result in immediate disqualification.
Mandatory Equipment: You must carry the mandatory equipment specified for your distance. Equipment checks may occur; missing items will lead to start refusal, penalty or disqualification.
DNF (Did Not Finish): If you withdraw, you must immediately scan the QR code on your bib and notify the nearest race official.
Intoxicants & Doping: Participation under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. Anti-Doping Norway rules apply.
Personal Insurance: We strongly recommend that all participants hold valid personal accident and travel insurance. This should cover personal medical expenses, loss of equipment, and potential repatriation (transport home) in the event of an injury.
Traffic Laws: You must adhere to all applicable traffic laws on sections where the course intersects or follows public roads.
Dogs: For safety reasons, participating with a dog is not allowed.
Organizer's Rights: In case of severe weather, unforeseen circumstances, or emergencies, the organizer reserves the right to alter the course, change the program, or cancel the event to ensure safety. Refunds will not be issued in such situations.
Liability Waiver, Media, and Data Rights: By participating, you release the organizer, crew, landowners, and partners from all liability for personal injuries, losses, or equipment damage. You also grant Norway Trail Series the right to use photos and videos of you from the event for promotional purposes without compensation. Additionally, you consent to the publication of your full name, club, nationality, and birth year in public start and result lists on our website and affiliated platforms.
Policy Changes: The organizer reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon publication on the NTS website (www.norwaytrailseries.com) or within the specific race websites.
